HASCO, Inc. located in the greater Indianapolis area, was built on the principles of integrity, honesty and craftsmanship more than 20 years ago by founders and owners Carla and Tom Merrill. The couple started a sealcoating business while Tom was in college. The company steadily expanded, adding paving and concrete services. Along the way, exceptional work paired with impeccable customer service has earned HASCO a solid reputation in the highly competitive paving and concrete industry.
Today, HASCO employs more than 20 people and continues to offer full service concrete and pavement services. HASCO is proud to be family owned and operated as well as a Women Business Enterprise (WBE) certified company through the state of Indiana.

Carla Merrill, President, started HASCO, Inc. with her husband Tom 20 years ago and has led the company for the past 15 years. As president, Carla manages business development while leading the overall growth and direction of the company. Carla is in charge of the day to day administrative operations and is always looking to implement new processes for improving employee and customer relations.
As a family owned business, Carla believes in treating employees like family members and encourages collaboration at all levels to create the best solution for every project. She believes HASCO has a high number of repeat clients due to the company’s honesty, integrity and eye for detail.
In her spare time, Carla enjoys music, gardening, church, camping, travel and spending time with her husband and her four children.
Tom Merrill, Vice President, founded HASCO, Inc. with his wife Carla 20 years ago with the idea of providing high quality asphalt and concrete services to central Indiana. Today, Tom takes a highly visible hands-on role in the company, In addition to overseeing the day-to day field operations, he coordinates and plans with project managers, estimators and laborers, ensuring projects are completed with efficiency and within scope and specifications. Tom also leads the sales, maintenance and purchasing teams and takes great pride in designing and implementing the right process for each and every project.
Tom excels at troubleshooting difficult projects and has the innate ability to implement the perfect solution to meet client needs. By building the company on the principles of integrity and trust, Tom believes HASCO offers clients a quality experience that brings customers back again and again. He also believes in keeping employees happy which keeps morale and productivity high and inevitably delivers a better product to clients.
Tom holds two degrees from Indiana University in Business Studies and Marketing. An adventurer at heart, Tom enjoys skiing, kayaking, golfing, traveling, fishing and spending time with his wife and four children.
Estimator and Sales & Project Manager
Garry Newman, Estimator and Sales & Project Manager, has been in construction for more than 40 years, but it’s been a family business for generations. His great-grandfather started in the lumber and saw mill business in 1897, expanding into designing and supplying material for home building. That company also built and manufactured wagon bodies and fabricated truck bodies during the Great Depression. Garry’s father designed and sold construction equipment for many years before starting his asphalt paving business in 1964.
Garry’s experience in all areas of construction gives him insight into customer needs and the most effective ways to solve problems. Garry’s focus at Hasco is to continue the company’s long history of honesty, integrity, attention to detail, and customer satisfaction that are hallmarks of the Hasco experience.
Garry enjoys sports, reading, historic building research, fitness, and traveling, when time permits. On the side, he produces 360-degree videos for sports skills training and community tours. He also creates cinematic virtual reality experiences and games.
